COVENTRY will be the centre of the universe for more than a quarter of a million Dr Who fans when the official exhibition of the cult TV show lands in the city centre.
The out-of-this-world show features props, costumes, monsters and characters from the hit BBC programme, including the Tardis, daleks, K9 and Davros.
More than 250,000 people are set to visit the six-month exhibition at Coventry Transport Museum from next month, bringing a much-needed boost to the city’s economy.
The museum was chosen before many other high-profile venues to host the exhibition, the first of its kind in the Midlands.
Martin Wilkie, from Experience Design and Management, which is staging the show, said: “We are extremely excited to be bringing Doctor Who to the heart of Coventry this spring, the location in the city couldn’t be better.
“The museum space is fantastic and enables us to showcase Doctor Who to its best advantage.
“The gallery enables our team to display many of the larger exhibits including the massive Empress of Racnoss spider, together with many of the larger props and set elements. There will be many of the favourite creatures lurking within, including the Cybermen and Daleks.”
Gary Hall, chief executive of Coventry Transport Museum, said: “This is the first time that a large-scale Doctor Who exhibition has been staged in the Midlands.
