And Spaced actress Jessica Hynes also returns to the show.

Jess, who previously starred as Joan Redfern, plays writer Verity Newman — after bosses failed to tempt Harry Potter author JK Rowling with the role.

Verity — named after show creators Verity Lambert and Sydney Newman — will anger the doc, played by David Tennant, by releasing his book Journal Of Impossible Things.
