Comic Con: What the TARDIS Told Us…
23rd Jul 2011Not only do we have the explosive Gunpowder Plot Adventure Game to look forward to (more on that next week) – we also have Doctor Who: World’s in Time. Whilst a few of our UK contingent are in the States we took the opportunity to hook up with Max Engel, one of the team behind the upcoming multiplayer online game. ‘What we’ve been showing at Comic Con,’ he explains, ‘is the first ever preview of artwork for the game.’ No release date has been announced as yet, but from what Max tells us, it sounds like it’ll be worth waiting for. We’ll be bringing you a full interview with Max and the creators of Doctor Who:Worlds in Time, plus some sneak peeks of the artwork, very soon!
Elsewhere at Comic-Con, the Doctor Who panel isn’t until Sunday but the Time Lord has already established a pervasive presence in San Diego. Aside from people dressing as the Doctor we’ve seen fans in costume carrying mops (yes, we loved that bit of The Big Bang, as well!), people dressed as Amy, River, a Dalek and even the TARDIS!
We chat to Nicole who falls into the latter category. ‘The Silence are one of my favourite monsters,’ she tells us. ‘Me and my brother both watched that adventure and loved it. When he was asleep I drew those little markings on his arm and when he woke up, for a moment he thought he must have seen a Silent!’
For many, the highlight of Comic-Con promises to be the Sunday event which sees Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Beth Willis, Piers Wenger and Toby Whithouse take to the stage. As previously reported, the session will feature new footage of the Doctor’s imminent adventures, and we’ll be bringing those moments for you to enjoy right here on Sunday night.
